Special Concert at First
Baptist Church
On
Sunday, Feb. 26th , Ms. Elisabeth Remy Johnson will present a solo
harp concert at the First
Baptist Church
of Jasper. This special presentation,
which is free, will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the church Sanctuary; a nursery will
be provided for children three years of age and younger.
Ms.
Remy Johnson is the principal harpist for the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, a
position which she has held since 1995.
With the Atlanta
Symphony, she has performed concertos by Debussy, Handel, Mozart and
others. She has won several first-place
awards in competitions of the American Harp Society and the American String
Teachers Association. She is a Phi Beta
Kappa graduate of Harvard
University with a double
major in Music and French.
As a
performer, Ms. Remy Johnson has been highlighted on several CD recordings and
as a special soloist in many different venues.
Recently, she was the featured performer at the 2010 International Harp
Festival in Rio de Janeiro. In March, she will be the featured artist at
the 2012 Mid-Atlantic Harp Festival. Her
concert in Jasper will include the music which she will perform at that
festival.
This
