FROM OUR CHILDREN’S DIRECTOR
We’d love to walk with your children as they discover God! Children are a special part of the life and ministry of First Baptist Jasper because they add a sense of excitement and curiosity to our worship and to our understanding of God. If you have children, we’d love to walk with them as they discover God.
Through our Children’s Ministry, we offer a variety of programs and activities for children, from birth to sixth grade. These programs give children the opportunity to hear the stories of our faith as they learn about God’s love. They also have opportunities to learn age-appropriate lessons about what God is doing in the world around them and how God invites us to be active participants in this work by sharing God’s love as we meet the needs in our local and global community.
Please review the programs and activities we offer for children at First Baptist Jasper. We hope that your child will come join us during this exciting time in the life of our church and Children’s Ministry.

SUNDAY MORNINGS
Sunday School
We have classes available for children and preschoolers at 9:45. If you enter the Welcome Center, someone will direct you to the correct classroom. Following Sunday School, we ask that you pick up children ages 3 and older from their Sunday School room and take them to worship with you. Children ages 2 and younger may stay in the nursery during worship. Our classes are broken into the following age groups:
Nursery (Birth – 2 years)
PreK – 3rd Grades
4th – 6th Grades
Worship
Worship is held each Sunday morning at 9:00 (in the chapel) and 11:00 (in the sanctuary). Nursery is available during both services for children ages birth through 2 years. Ages 3 and older are encouraged to attend early worship with their families. During the 11:00 service, there is a children’s sermon (any age) and children’s worship (ages 3 – Third Grade). The worship guide will direct you on how your child can participate in each one.
Worship guides for children (ages 7-12) and worship clipboards are available for children to use during both worship services. The worship clipboards are equipped with paper, crayons, and a quiet “fidget” toy. Children can use the paper and pencils to draw something they hear in a song or sermon, to draw or write a prayer, to write a question about something from worship, or simply doodle while they listen. Children are still encouraged to participate to the best of their ability in prayers and singing hymns. The clipboards are not meant to be a distraction from worship but a way to help children be better worshippers.
Children’s Worship (during the 11 am service)
Children’s Worship is for children ages 3 through Third Grade. You will see instructions printed in the worship guide for children to come forward. Immediately following the children’s message, the proper ages will be escorted to the Chapel. There the children will have worship time, an offering will be taken up and a message that is age appropriate will mimic what is being taught in the Sanctuary.
Nursery
The nursery is located in room 110, downstairs in the Welcome Center, and is available for infants through two-year-olds during Sunday morning and Wednesday evening activities. Pagers are available for your peace of mind and are assigned to parents so the nursery workers can page you if needed.
WEDNESDAY EVENINGS (during the school year)
5:15 Dinner For Everyone
6:00 Children’s Choir and Missions (ages 3 – 6th grade)
7:15 all classes dismissed
WELCOME CENTER LOCATION
The Welcome Center is located on the lower level of the church. Access by car is from the rear parking lot at the portico. From the lower-level elevator lobby, go through the double doors on the right-hand side of the building into the Welcome Center.
Access from the sanctuary can be gained from the elevator lobby in the front of the sanctuary. From the front of the sanctuary, exit through the double doors on the organ side into the elevator lobby. Take the elevator or the stairs to your right down to the lower level of the church.
ACTIVITIES & EVENTS
Throughout the year we have events to help connect our children and their families to God, each other, the church, and our community. These activities range from fun events, like our annual Back To School Splash Party and Fall Festival, to spiritual growth opportunities, like Happy Birthday Jesus Party where families celebrate our Savior’s birth and learn about Advent. We hope you will be able to join us in these events and grow with us!

Weekly Meetings
YOUTH GROUP is our weekly meeting during the school year. We meet every Sunday at 4:00 to play games, study scripture, and participate in small groups. Youth Group is a time for youth to get plugged in and find where God is in their lives and in the lives of others. During the year we study the Biblical story in a way that connects God’s word to our own lives and use that experience to grow closer to one another. If you have any questions or concerns, contact the Associate Pastor to Families, Rev. Anna Walker at annasjwalker@gmail.com. Hope to see you at church!
Monthly Activities
During the school year we have monthly activities that include, but are not limited to, bowling, lock-ins, movie nights and game nights. Check out the church calendar to see what’s happening this month and join the fun!
Annual Activity
Every year church members of all ages travel to a community to serve, build, and spread the love of Christ! Our Youth Mission Trip is not only for youth, but is largely planned by our high school students. The trip is organized in collaboration with other leaders in the church. YMT is a 40+ year tradition of our church, and everyone is welcome to be a part of this year’s mission.
2021 Youth Mission Trip will be at the Lions Club Camp for the Blind in Waycross, Georgia.
